Cruise to Europe for Less Than $50 per Night

You can always depend on syndicated travel writer, Ed Perkins, for solid info. A recent column points out that some of the best bargains in 2008 are cruises. The best deals can cost less than $50 per night, per person for one-way sailings aboard major cruise lines repositioning ships from U.S. ports to European ports, during the period February-April. Though on such cruises, several consecutive days will be spent on the open sea, there are also ports of call in the Caribbean, the Azores, France, Spain, and Portugal. He cites these deals on Hotwire:

• $599 for an inside cabin or $1499 for an ocean-view, 13 nights, Miami to Barcelona, aboard the Norwegian Jade. Departs Feb. 19
• $799 to $1299, depending on cabin, 15 nights, Norwegian Jewel, Miami-Dover, April 20.
• $809 to $1,299, 13 nights, Voyager of the Seas, Galveston-Barcelona, April 27.
• $749 to $1,099, 12 nights, Celebrity Summit, San Juan-Southampton, March 29
